I have now a greater appreciation of how much work it must be to raise kids alone. My dear hubs is in another country and I am alone to do all the stuff I do and all the stuff he does. And let me tell you, he is a hubs who does A LOT to help me. To all the single moms and dads out there in blogdom and beyond...kudos to you for a job well done and if I can help one of you ever, call me.....I can't imagine doing it all alone all the time!

Great Big Wonderful God

We have a song we used to sing in my grade one and two class called Great Big Wonderful God. The kids love it and so do I! God has been doing so many wonderful things lately, in me, in my marriage, in my friends, in my kids, in my mothering, in our school and I just wanted to take a minute to give Him all the glory.

I haven't written in such a long time as so much is going on with the house, friends, new church, etc.....

Will post more later but was just musing over how Great He IS!

Life

Life has slowed down a little since the busyness that was the first 3 weeks in our new home! The first few days here we had family and friends over so we didn't get much unpacked, plus we were very tired from the move itself. Then I was only in the new house 5 days when Mom flew me home to Ontario to visit her and Dad since Dad is turning 65.

We had a great time in Ontario but then I came home to my grandma-in-law in her last days. I spent the evening with her after I got in from the plane earlier that day. She died the next day. Then started the process of grieving, funeral home visitations and the funeral itself...all while still working full time.

Last Monday Kayleigh and I were en route to pick up Kamryn at the sitter's when I witnessed a dump truck come round the corner too fast on wet pavement after a rainy day and he tipped over on his side. Just as I was saying to Kayleigh, "Pray for the driver of the truck, Kayleigh. He is likely hurt really badly," people started getting out of their cars and directing traffic and going up to the truck driver (one guy climbed up on top of the cab on its side to talk to the driver) but I didn't see anyone with a cell phone. I called 911 and got out of the car to be better able to answer the operator's questions about the scene. Then I saw a sight that would cause me great internal stress and bad dreams for a few nights. There was a car under the dump truck. I hadn't seen what the truck fell on when it went over on its side as I was the fourth car back and there was a mini van ahead of me.

I and Kam have had bad colds so that has made life busy and tiring too, caring for a sick little one.

I am so happy to have Roni home and it was so nice to see you the other day my sweet!

Kelly and Affy we have to get together with Roni soon and have Caramilk Cake from Sobeys!!! Like the old days! :)

Tracy~ I am sorry to hear about your dad in law and I will be praying for you and for Rob's family. Are you still going to the Wesleyan mommy club? Do they still meet at Ginny's?

I am still unpacking the office and I have a mountain of laundry to do so after that I hope to get some pics of the new house up here.

I am so glad things have slowed down a bit. Have a great week everyone!

This is for my sweet Roni! Thank you for asking me to post. I have gotten behind on it! It is nice to be reminded to post because it lets me know people are actually reading what I post. :)

I have been back at school this week after a week off home with a sick little one and then a week off for March Break. It was strange to be back at work at first but we had a great week. I am tired from working and packing but the excitement of the move is keeping me going. I am so thankful that God has given us a new house and I am so happy that my good friend is moving home ~ literally to the home I am now in! How wild is that! Who woulda thunk? God has neat ideas when He works things out! He is awesome!

Take care all as I likely won't be posting again until after the move on the 30th and 31st. Happy packing Roni, my sweet! Kelly and Affy, she's comin' home! Yeah!!!! Chocolate cake, old times, here we come! :)

The teacher in me gets all bent out of joint when I am reading a blog, church bulletin, or some other publication and I come across words spelled incorrectly or across bad grammar...now I just did it in my own blog~uhhhh!
That should have read..."I could WRITE about school but..." and not "I could right about school but..." And the most embarrassing part is that my grade one spelling list this week included these two homonyms and the TEACHER isn't using them correctly...yes, I teach your children...scary isn't it!!!!

~It is likely time to post again. I really find it difficult to post something interesting and yet not too personal for the world to see. Not that that many people frequent my blog~ mostly friends who I don't mind if they are reading my thoughts~but let's face the fact that this is on the web and anyone could access it potentially.
Thus I am left with wondering what to write. Though many write about their personal relationship with God and I LOVE and respect that~since so many inspire me to grow closer to the Lord by reading of their own experiences with Him~I am going through some stuff now that is just for God and Dean and I to know.
I could right about school but that is same old, same old. I love my job and teaching my own child but that is basically always the same...I run a tight ship, yet we have a ton of fun too and to have a classroom run that way I am always working on new and better things for the class and my kids in the evenings and weekends!
So that leaves my marriage~which is again between Dean and I ;) and my kids, who I don't like to show pics of or talk too specifically about because you just never know who is out there....
So today I am going to talk about my friends. I want to thank God today for my friends who have been there to listen to me cry, to listen to my dreams, to listen to my endless chatter about my kids and my school kids, to help with scrapbooking and to help me when I needed a sitter. I am thankful for the friends I can call up on a Saturday night and just talk about whatever and it is awesome! Well~enough babble~ I thank God for my wonderful friends~ you know who you are!!! :)

My Goal

I have been wanting to read through the Bible for a long time now. My new goal is 5 chapters a Sunday and 3 chapters every other day as someone once said this would get you through in one year. I am aiming for that.

Also~ I am so blessed. I have a great hubby, great healthy kids, and amazing friends and a job I enjoy. I spent time today with an amazing young lady who works two jobs, never sees her hubby and get four hours of sleep a night while raising two kids. She was an inspiration to me as she is so thankful to God for all in her life and here I am complaining that I have it so hard. Yeah right~ my life is so cushy compared to many. And she is always so joyful! What an inspiration. I am going to have to start spending much more time with my new friend.

Well, I spent the day evaluating. Thinking about what I would like the new year to look like, at least for the things I do have control over. I made some plans for the house and for school and for my small group fellowship....Looking forward to this new year unfolding, but too tired from a long day to list all the thoughts just now...will keep you "posted"! Sadness

Lisa, I just watched the video of the church burning and began to cry. I used to go to Kids' Club (AWANA) there as a child and there are memories of family weddings and the church was just such a part of Stayner even though I grew up at the BIC church. Seeing Chrissy B. and Audrey B. on there crying was hard to bear...I am sorry as that is the church you got married in and now you can't go in it again to revisit those memories in the exact location you were married.

Roni, I miss you and our lunches with Kelly and Affy... I hate change and am sad you moved away, sad I am back at work and sad that I don't know where Kelly will be in 6 months is the new pastor decides to get a new team and not keep AJ and Sacha.

Kelly, I am so sorry but Dean has to go work at the school tomorrow and I just found out tonight and now it is too late to call you and let you know that and I will have no car tomorrow to see you.

Heather, I am sad you were sick at Christmas break time but I am so happy you got to Buffalo. It is so good to go "home" to Ontario and I am sure you were so thrilled to go home to Buffalo.

Love and miss you all and all my other Ontario, NB, and far away BBC friends!!!

Christmas

Christmas was awesome with my family in Ontario! Too bad I got sick two days before Christmas and didn't really fully recover til Friday the 30th....and I gave flu to Dean and my dad.

Super Awesome

We have good days and bad days. We like to have more good than bad of course. We have great days and even super days, but how often do we have super awesome days??? I have had a few this week. I am so happy to have time off from school teaching to be with my own kids all day long. They are pretty cool and it has been refreshing. So that long list of school stuff in the last post is slowly getting chipped away at but my kids and spending time with them list is getting HUGE attention. I THANK GOD FOR AWESOME KIDS AND FOR MY SUPER AWESOME DAYS AS OF LATE. :)

Christmas Break

For accountability purposes I am posting out of shear need to get this stuff done and if I put it out there for all of blogdom to see maybe I will feel more motivated to get the list done.

To do over school break:
1) phonemic awareness unit for struggling reader
2) grade two math masters for workbooks
3) organize theme binders
4) index theme binders
5) inventory Learning Centre games

To do list if I get the first one done:
1) master TO DO list for the year
including: art, social studies units, gingerbread men, January unit, Bulletin board redo from summer plans
2) copy out of butcher paper, large copies of the poetry curriculum for classroom use

That should keep me busy!!! and know that my blogger friends are watching to keep tabs on whether I finish this list will keep me motivated.

BUT having said all that, I want to do this list first:
1) read and make crafts with my kids (tonight we painted)
2) finish making Christmas cards with the kids for the extended family Christmas on the 25th
3) make discovery bottles for science experiments (this is a great and fun thing the kids can do with me!!!)
4) have fun and relax over break (week of 25th to 1st while home at Mom and Dad's in Ontario)

Yes, it has been far too long since the last post. :( Alas, I am back and ready to try again.
School is going well but also full force with concerts and parties and stuff until we are done on Dec. 15. I am so happy to be done early and have time off!!!! Whoohoo!
Dean and I finished our Christmas shopping yesterday except for the kids' stockings. That will likely be a trip to the dollar store. I can't believe how much Winnie the Pooh and Disney Princess stuff you can find there. Awesome!

I have exercised 4 out of the last 7 days which for me is a HUGE breakthrough. Roni, you are starting to inspire me to lose weight too. Just 1.8 lbs this week but that is a start.

Ever Wonder?

Have you found yourself in a place of doubt with regard to your faith? I think there is a time and place to ask the hard questions so we are forced to delve into God's Word and get the answers. I think we are so accustomed to fast food and fast lane living and getting everything downloaded instantly that our generation (me at least) struggles sometimes to "be still" long enough "to KNOW that He is God". I have been encouraged as I ask God the hard questions that He 1) is big enough to take the questions, 2) loves me in the midst of my trying to sort it all out- this faith thing, and 3) that He DOES give answers. Not always the answers I want to hear mind you, and some things we won't know til Heaven, but I think in His grace He makes known to us enough to keep us strong. No, He doesn't always divulge all the answers and often not in the timeline we would prefer, but I am SLOWLY learning that He is so faithful and so trustworthy. Take heart, dear reader, He is there. Just some musings as a result of some personal stuff on my faith journey in the last months.

Time Goes On...

I am not sure where the time goes...it goes so quickly. It feels like school has only been in a few weeks and it has already been two and a half months. We are well underway with our curriculum and report card time is here again. I will be swamped with reports for a week or two.

The kids are doing well. We had Kammy's birthday party yesterday. She was so cute opening her gifts and exclaiming over each one.

Kayleigh is doing well in school and enjoying her little friends. Hard to believe my baby is in school.

This is short but to let you know I am still blogging....well once in awhile....

It is about time to get another post up. Sept. was as busy as I thought. Oct. is starting out busy as well. We have progress reports due this week and parent teacher next week. Those are never my fav things to do. So time consuming and it is very hard to tell people in a nice way when their child is struggling. Anyway, hope all is well with you all in blogdom. Sorry this is short but I am off to grade papers and prep lessons for the week.

Gillian, I am not sure when we'll be in ON and when we'll be in NS around the Christmas break but will let you know as soon as I know. :)
Roni, Not planning any trips anytime soon-because of busyness and life-not because I don't want to see you. Miss you much and sooo happy you love Fredericton.

To the rest of blogdom-I have strep throat and have been on meds for a week and am still having a sore throat. I am working away on some school stuff, decluttering the house and changed my office back to the basement so sweet Kammie can have her room back and the kids aren't sharing a room anymore. :)

It will be a busy last few weeks of Sept. with Scholastic book orders due, test folders due, long range plans due, Substitute teacher folders due, school photos, my own kids personal photos, Dean taking on 2 contract jobs related to computer work and still working at Dalhousie University full time, small group from church starting up officially, and a myriad of normal everyday work. Heehee-hope to find time to keep you posted! If not-have a nice Sept. :)

New Year

Well a new school year is underway. I have a great bunch of kids and I think our first week went really well. I have some projects I am working on for school at home. I want to get them done this weekend so I can have my house back and get the school stuff out of my home. All of this work will pay off in the classroom and in less work to bring home in evenings during the year. Will keep posting re my progress. Have a wonderful day friends in blogdom.

I got to school today between 930 and 1000 am and i left tonight at 930 pm. Can you say tired???? I had to move all my furniture back to its original position in the classroom as they have waxed the floors over the summer. I have so many new things and so many new ideas for this year that I just hope I can decide on where and how to use all these super ideas I have gleaned from teacher resource books I have read this summer and from the internet.
Must have something to eat and some sleep. My kids were at the sitters and with daddy all day. Haven't seen Mommy since breakfast so tomorrow is their day. Maybe we'll ride bikes and go to the seashore and out for ice cream.
Night all...nothing deep and meaningful in this blog but just trying to keep up to date. :)

Working HARD

I have been working very hard and long getting ready for school. Thank goodness Kelly said she would help. She is doing a lot of colouring and cutting to prepare things for laminating for me. This is freeing me up to do lesson plans and long range plans. Oh, I am tired. It is 3:34 am but I have been meaning to update for so long and have been busy with school.
The intimacy with God is going well. I have been in the Word and have been listening to some pretty powerful sermons from Joyce Meyer ( www. joycemeyer.org and James MacDonald (www. walkintheword.com ).
Kayleigh was born 6 years ago minus 4 1/2 hours since she was born at 7:58 am on Aug 23 2000. WHERE did that time go?
I am praying God's blessing on my family and friends tonight. TRUST HIM with whatever you may be going through today.

And Roni, my sweet, I am sorry. I forgot all about that weight loss blog and I don't know the address or the password anymore. I will have to get it from Kelly or it may be in an email from her somewhere. Love you.

Whew! I am tired of working on school work and the new year has not even begun. I am working ahead this summer to hopefully get some evenings off this fall. I am preparing bulletin boards, themes, lessons, and learning centre games NOW so I have less to do later. That is the only thing that helps me keep working on my summer vacation. Please pray for me to be motivated to get this work all done and to enjoy the last few weeks I have before going back to work. Yes, I know most of you don't get the summer off from your work, so what on earth am I complaining about? But the summer does go quickly and any teachers out there would agree that we really do need our summer break from the classroom and that our work through the year doesn't end at 3pm when the kids leave. We often take work on lessons and marking home with us each night.

Kayleigh will be in my class this year. I am looking forward to seeing her each day and I think she'll be fine in this arrangement. Christian education is so important to me so sending her to the public school here in the city isn't an option for me. She could go to the other campus of our Christian school here but I don't want to send my almost 6 yr old across the city in a carpool each day.

Kamryn is growing and "reading" picture books to her dolls and she loves to "drive" her Little Tikes car.

They grow so fast! Time for Number 3? I wish but that door is closed for now.

I pray God's blessing on all you out there in blogdom today. Remember to pray for me to be motivated to get all that school work done. It really will make for more time for my family this school year to not have to bring work home. :)

Intimacy

Intimacy with God is something I have been longing for the last months and interestingly enough a lot of friends and acquaintances blogs say the same thing. I think God is trying to awaken in us a deeper dependence on Him, love for Him, and understanding that we need to just be with Him. I hope for me this means more time in the Word out of shear love and longing for God and not out of duty etc. I want to KNOW Him and to be able to discern His voice amidst all the other messages in the world and even at church. I want to know Him so well that decisions are not hard because I know His voice so deeply that I am not agonizing over whether a step I am about to take is His will or not. I want to know Him so intimately that I will hear that still small voice behind me telling me whether to go left or right. I think it is a love relationship with the Father, lover of my soul, not a confusing, "am I doing this Christian walk thing right or not" thing. I want that intimacy. Reveal to me Jesus how to have that with You.

It has been 6 days less a year since I last blogged on my old site brendalandry.blogspot.com and I cannot even get into it to update as I have forgotten the password. Thus a new blog and a new determination to keep it up to date.

Thoughts: I am getting tired....tired of mundane things of life being mundane. I know God is calling me into deeper intimacy with Him. I am asking for prayer for accountability to start really Being In Him daily.
